If conditions on the ground are safe McCain supports a timetable...
http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2008/07/28/mccain-iraq-troop-withdrawal-is-conditional/
The clear difference in position is that because it was a politically popular move Obama supported immediately leaving Iraq, but John McCain will judge whether or not it is safe for Iraqis and our servicemen before he withdrawals.

Barack's campaign is making some serious mistakes.
I am of the opinion that Barack is an arrogant man. His arrogant message gave hope to young and liberal voters in the primary. His arrogance has caused him lose sight of where he needs to be campaigning. He must be pounding Michigan and Pennsylvania, but instead he is focusing on expanding the map into the south. States such as Virginia and North Carolina. The fact of the matter is if he wins those two states it will be blowout.
He is giving John McCain an opening in the rust belt. I am beginning to think he may be recognizing that cannot compete in the rust belt. If he tries to win this election by picking up, Colorado, Iowa, New Mexico, and Virginia. While giving McCain Ohio and Michigan. This would leave Pennsylvania up in the air.
Possibly Obama is avoiding the rust belt until he picks a running mate who can help him in the area. We shall see, but as it stands McCain has a very good shot at winning Ohio and Michigan.. If he makes those two pick up he may well be in White House.

change we can believe in???
Well here is food for thought .... For the past 28 years there has been a Bush or Clinton as either the President or Vice President. If Obama selects Clinton and they win the election that will 32 years and if they are re-elected that would 36 years of Bush and Clinton. This means many of the same tire old folks would fill important jobs in an Obama administration. I think it is time for real change.
Campaign strategy
McCain wants a regional campaign.

There is no reason not to, take a look at the candidates and decide who you want running the country. The president has many many roles, and they effect every aspect of your life. Take some time to do some research on the candidates. Senators, Governors, Congressmen. Take some time to inform yourself on the issues. Our nation is redefining itself. You must have a say. Take a family member go to your court house and register. Let this nation reflect your voice.

where will the candidates spend their resources?
You have no reason to trust my insight on this issues except my on interest in the electoral map. I have closely followed the electoral map since 1996. With that said I will now take a look at the 5 most important states for each candidate starting with John McCain.
John McCain
1. Ohio (20 electoral votes), simply put this state makes his election possible and without it he faces too much of and uphill battle
2. Florida(27), McCain needs to maintain his sizable lead over Obama in this state so he can focues his resources elsewhere... once again if he loses Florida it will be a long night for McCain
3.Virginia(13), McCain can win the election and lose this state however it takes much needed breathing room a way form the candidate. As with Florida McCain has an edge and needs to keep it large enough to discourage Obama from spending resources there as it might also put North Carolina in play.
4.Michigan(17), John McCain needs to make this his number one state to go on the offensive... Bush lost this state twice and it will be an uphill battle, but he must put it in play and have Obama spend his resources in this state. If he wins this state as well as those mentioned above he will be in an excellent position to become our next President.
5.Nevada(5) Nevada is an important state because out west it appears McCain will lose Colorado and New Mexico states that Bush won and losing Nevada would force McCain to depend on Michigan.
honorable mention... New Hampshire(McCain needs to win NH or Nevada) Pennsylvania although I do not think he stands a great chance of winning in Pennsylvania he must make Barack spend resources in the keystone state. also Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa... a victory in any of these three state is extremely helpful.
Barack Obama
1. Pennsylvania(21), Obama needs to establish an early lead and move this election to other states.
2.Ohio(20), If Obama can force Ohio into play he can drain McCain's resources and open up for a possible blowout.
3. Iowa(7), Iowa is looking like a Obama lock and he needs to keep it that way... this will be one of the easy pick ups from John Kerry's performance.
4. Michigan(17), Obama must defend Michigan if he plans on winning the election losing Michigan would set him in a deep hole.
5. Colorado(9), is an important state and early polls show it will be a pick up for Obama.
honorable mention... Virginia, Florida,New Mexico, California, Oregon, Minnesota, wisconsin
if the election were held to day I would predict.....
John McCain wins 286 - 252... McCain flips Michigan red.

as the General Election begins some food for thought...
1. Change- webster defines change as the process of becoming different.. Where does nominating Hillary Clinton as your VP fit into this message of change.... If Obama were elected and Hillary was his running mate and they served a full four year term... That would be 32!!! years of either a Bush or Clinton as the President or Vice President... I do not see this as change.
2. John McCain continues to perform well with African American voters, compared to most Republicans. http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=6e81fa91-09e4-4f8a-8392-58ac790c0a58 McCain starts off close in Massachusetts. Obama leads 46-41.
3. Can McCain win the Bush strongholds.... lose Colorado and New Mexico.... but gain New Hampshire and Michigan.... if so He is the President.
4. is there a tape of Michelle Obama going off on a racist rant... some believe there is..
5. How will the foreign policy debate shape up and what will Iraq look like in November.

Obama ran a smart campaign
http://www.newsmax.com/politics/obama_strategy/2008/05/30/100120.html
I will say it right now he is the electoral under dog. I do not want to get my hopes up, but if you look at this election Obama has to be considered the under dog.

Obama's arrogance, will he bring a white flag?
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/05/29/obama-may-plan-trip-to-iraq-2/
He is going to possibly take a trip to Iraq and tell our servicemen he is ready for them to pack it up and head home. I was just thinking I hope he remembers to bring his white flag. I mean he needs to go ahead and surrender ASAP. Yeah things are getting better, but why let facts get in the way of your political ambitions. Using CNN, NBC, MSNMC as your outlet you have run a very easy campaign for the Democrat nomination, but wait til you try and present your white flag foreign policy to the general electorate.

Fight the good fight conservatives and moderates alike
I encourage everyone who reads this blog to inform their friends about the true Barack. While he says he stands for a purple America... it seems the only thing he could mean by that is moving the country farther than the left than we could imagine. He is the candidate of the Left if you are a liberal and you read this blog I fully understand your support for Barack. I say that without the least bit of anger towards liberals. They have their reasons for their ideology... but where I part ways with Barack is his false change. The idea that Americans have been dumbed down enough to believe someone is a new kind of politician for no other reason than the fact that they say they are.
Start a blog, join a facebook group, talk to a friend or family member, lets make sure people do not support Barack based on false pretenses. He does not have a moderate leg to stand on. John McCain is no moderate, but he does work across party lines. Barack does not cross party lines and does not want to be judged by his friends and wife. The only problem I have with Barack saying he does not agree with these people he only likes to hear other opinions is.... where are all his radical right friends???? He has associations with American haters, but not with his conservatives... interesting.
What I am saying is simple... dig folks look... listen.. lets make sure America gets the full story about Barack... not his 10% of the actual story mixed with 90% lies.

Thank Goodness for the Internet
If it was not for the internet then I think Obama would be walking into this election and would not even be bruised. However the power of the internet is going to bloody up Obama and show his true colors. I know several anti-Obama facebook groups are gaining momentum. All politicians lie, but not all politicians platform and "brand" are built on lies. Obama floated through the liberal primary, but just wait until we have the most liberal candidate in front of all Americans for a few months.

George W Bush's greatest gift to the GOP
W really set up a map that we can all look at and define presidential favorites. He also managed to develope a map in such a way that it favors the GOP. Considering the 2004 election he even gave McCain some breathing room. Here are some interesting facts that look good for McCain heading into 2008
All these are under the assumption that all things are equal from the 2004 map
- if McCain loses Ohio, but offsets it with a victory in New Hampshire. McCain wins the election 270-268
-McCain can lose Iowa and Colorado and still win the election
-McCain can lose Virginia or NC and still win the election
-If McCain manages to hold Ohio and pick up Michigan or Pennsylvania than he is the nominee almost certainly.
* studying the electoral map it is clear that this race will be won or lost in the rust belt
McCain's most important states
-Ohio and Florida- McCain has to win these states in order to win the election( I noted above he could switch ohio and new hampshire, but there will likely see several states switch columns.)
2. MICHIGAN!! the DNC primary debacle should open the door. If he can win Michigan he has plenty of breathing room.
3. the rest of the Bush coalition- if he does well in the Bush states and wins any 2 of the following
Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania than he wins the election
*** This leads me to believe that at some point when McCain was focused on helping W win elections, Bush told McCain if you help me when the election in 2004 I will hand you a blue print for an easy electoral victory in 2008, well I think the problem is if Bush was even an arguably good president then I think McCain would roll to a mighty victory.

A great article for electoral nerds

McCain outlines first term
http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/mccain_governing_style/2008/05/15/96175.html
he mentions some great things, most notable he would hold weekly press conferences and answer questions from joint sessions of congress, British style. That would be awesome I am more excited than ever about his campaign. If he is elected and does bring himself before congress I assure you he will get re-elected. One problem Bush has had is his hiding from the American people since the Iraq war went south.

cnn reporting John Edwards will endorse Obama
in MICHIGAN!!! Obama is working on his appeal to the voters that will decided this election, white democrats in Ohio and Michigan. The location for this important endorsement highlights what we already know here at sovm Michigan is the heart of this campaign. Obama understands Michigan's importance does McCain? We shall see.

MICHIGAN!!
MICHIGAN and OHIO!!! I hate the football teams, but assuming most polling data is correct if McCain can win those two states he can offset probable losses in states Bush won. Dear McCain call Karl Rove and tell him to lockdown those two states. I have my doubts about a McCain victory in Michigan, but if he makes it happen and holds Ohio then McCain wins. If he can do that the gop can buy sometime and retool our party and RECRUIT MINORITY CANDIDATES and other qualified candidates. The Democrats are dominating Republicans at candidate selection in Governors, Senators, and congressmen.
